Grant Proposal - Dappify

Project Title

Dappify

Description

“The Squarespace of Web3”. We enable millions to build a brand, share their stories, and transact with their customers with a beautiful online presence, in a decentralized way. Builders can craft and launch projects, from templates focused on web3 use cases, without having to write a single line of code. Dappify lowers the entry barrier for builders into web3 by abstracting them on the complexities of blockchain & UX with pre-built templates they can adapt for their own needs that offer an ultra friendly end experience for their users.

Manifesto/Vision

Dappify exists to help people with creative ideas in the decentralised world stand out and succeed. We seek to enable millions to build a brand and transact with their customers across an impactful and beautiful online presence.

Problem

  • Accessibility. One major problem with Web3 right now is it isn’t accessible to the masses. Whoever can solve this issue is going to shape the future. Web3 has a steep learning curve for builders, requiring development skills or some level of technical ability for creating smart contracts and user interfaces. More complex dApps require additional infrastructure and logic outside the native network like indexing and caching that are not trivial to maintain and translate into additional operational costs for creators. These issues prevent creative people without technical background from materialising their ideas.

  • UI/UX. One thing that Web 2 companies like Facebook and Google did was focus heavily on these aspects. Which is why they have some top-notch products. These products are built in such a way that the user journey is as smooth as possible . There is no resistance or barriers to adoption. Web3 solutions are still in their infancy requiring users to watch videos on how to use metamask, or how careful they need to be not to transfer wrongly their assets and risk losing them because of a typo. Web3 in general is walking forward from discoveries and tech instead of working backwards from real customer’s problems. Currently, the focus of Web 3 is to build working products which maintain the theme of decentralisation. There is little focus on how users interact with them.

Solution

A platform that enables anyone to craft and launch web3 projects, from templates, without having to write a single line of code. Dappify lowers the entry barrier for builders into web3 by abstracting them on the complexities of blockchain & UX with pre-built templates they can adapt for their own brands and needs that offer an ultra friendly end experience for their users.

Product Features

  • Dapp building tools & templates - use our templates to launch custom branded experiences without writing any code. They can be mixed and matched. e.g. NFT Marketplace, Blog, QR Payments, Ticket sales & event booking can be used stand alone or in conjunction, with more templates in the pipeline.
  • Offchain content hosting - we index your dApps so they load quickly and work reliably from anywhere in the world.
  • Search engine optimization - Dappify automatically generates sitemaps, uses clean HTML markup and uses automatic tagging so search engines can index your content without plugins or extra fees.
  • Responsive design for mobile viewing - Responsive design comes standard on every Dappify app, ensuring your content looks great and is accessible on any device.
  • 24/7 Customer Support - Advisors are available at any time, 365 days a year, to answer your questions.

Validation

We are currently working backwards with strategic partners/builders to help them build their NFT marketplace in Q2, 2022.

Help Requested

Wow, if we can still ask for more (very generous!!!) any of the following would greatly help!

  • Mentoring (I got some good mentors already but the more the merrier). Particular gaps that can be fulfilled around marketing and community building & engagement.
  • Networking. Help me connect with potential builders and understand their needs so I can craft the right solution for them within Dappify.
  • Talent. Finding the right talent is hard balancing budget/skillset. Any pointer towards high quality talent that is willing to be paid in crypto is huge!

https://physicalweb3.com/ (Original hackathon project that spawned the idea)

This seems potentially in-scope for Moloch support, and useful to the ecosystem.

What other sources of funding do you have?

How will the project be sustainable over the long term (or will it?)

Hi, we are currently operating based on a VC grant and hackathon bounties. The funding has helped us build the platform and prepare to launch MVP in may with NFT marketplaces for a couple of builders we are partnering with.

The plan is to build these set of features laid out in the document and bring in builders to start creating brands and identities in the platform, sharing their success stories and for us to gather that feedback to shape the next years to come. Once we have partnered with enough builders we plan on adding a fixed fee per transaction (~2.5% TBD) to new builders joining the platform.

I’m personally a bit bearish on web apps when it comes to the future of the decentralized web.

In building a “managed solution”, how do you plan to manage OFAC or other similar kind of censorship requests?

In what jurisdiction would these front-ends and data backends be located?

Hi @stellar_magnet at this moment, being so early, our focus is the community and how our product solves our builder’s gaps.

As soon as we have confirmed our market fit and start getting traction we need to kickstart due diligence and as part of that define a compliance program.

It will be all about evolving the product and the community and identifying the right times to implement the right tooling, programs and owners to support that growth.

The way it is built today, builders own the smart contracts and their users own their assets. Dappify takes care of indexing and the user interface using “centralised systems” while we migrate to more decentralised options. Once we do, we will be offering our builders to choose the type of storage/service for these functionalities.
