DAOs are building tools to replace managers.
Normal organizations have senior leadership / professional managerial class / contributors.
DAOs have investors / contributors.
Managers are expensive dead weight.
The role of managers is to (a) define roadmap, (b) measure progress against roadmap, © reward contributions that advance roadmap, (d) prioritize.
In DAOs community can define roadmap and prioritize, but b/c are like a missing middle.
Managers are kind of of necessary to inform the org about what’s going on and make sure that valuable contributors are rewarded and nurtured. This will probably continue to some extent, but tools like Coordinape and Cred will reduce the importance of this function.
They create a contributor/contribution graph that can either automate reward of contributions aligned with roadmap objectives (Cred) or encourage decentralized identification and reward of (Coordinape) quality contributions.
This graph will need analyzing; to evaluate performance, tune internal tooling, and communicate the health of the organization to external stakeholders.
This creates a gigantic opportunity for us. There is no tool for understanding Target’s health as a community beyond perhaps studying their brand and examining policies.
In Web3 there is no tool for this but it would be tremendously valuable for investors, community managers, and community members.
We could be that tool. Or rather the organization that develops those tools and the metrics they track.
I think that’s a gigantic opportunity.
